All week I was extremely giddy and impatient and this was only amplified by the fact that I was unable to pick up my tickets until the VERY last minute. But, thankfully we got the tickets in time and were able to attend the festivities on Saturday. I was brave and decided to use my cane instead of my wheelchair which turned out to be a huge mistake. Just walking from the car to the theater door wore me out but my sister Lisa jumped in and went over to exchange the vouchers for the movie tickets so that I could take a break. How sweet is that! Yea, I have amazing sisters!
I was excited to see this movie! My sisters and I love foreign films, and for my sister Lisa and I , anything Asian is OK with us! The Lady featured Michelle Yeoh, an amazing actress that you’ve probably seen in such movies as:
- Memoirs of a Geisha
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Silver Hawk ( My personal favorite)
She is a wonderful actress and might I add ADORABLE! Anyway, you can probably tell I adore her so I couldn’t wait for the movie to begin. I wish I could go into more detail about the movie but you just have to see it for yourself. From the moment the movie started, it had my heart racing and I felt myself becoming deeply involved with the storyline. It was truly heartbreaking and I must admit I shed a tear or two during the screening. The movie is set to be released later this year in select US theaters. If you have the chance to please go support this film! You won’t regret it. To wet your movie appetite, check out the trailer below:
After watching the movie we spent the entire ride home discussing it. We all agreed that with such terror happening in Burma you would think that they would have more exposure. So often we become so self absorbed we forget that there are other people outside of the US that don’t have the same freedoms and luxuries that we enjoy. Honestly If I had the monetary support, I would give up my life here and travel to other countries to volunteer. I’m so passionate about world issues and I just wish more people cared as much as I do about what’s happening around the world. But, I’m not here to get preachy on you, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
On a lighter note we were able to stop by Chili’s after the movie and I had my favorite sandwich, the turkey club with extra lettuce and a side of fries!!! It was so delicious and I was truly sad when it was gone. That is so fat of me but that sandwich had to be made with love! Well here we are at another week. Look out for more post throughout the week!! Talk to you soon!!
