There are two things that I can’t resist: (1) an amazing find from the thrift store and (2) a fun blazer. Now if you can combine these two then the result is one very happy Iris. Such was the case during my recent thrift store hunt. I found this sweet striped blazer tucked away in the back of a rack. It had a few tears on the pocket and it was starting to come apart in the under arms. But nothing some love, care, and mending couldn’t fix. So I took this piece for $3 home and mended the flaws to reveal a gorgeous Banana Republic blazer. How cool is that? I’m always in the hunt for a blazer and this was one of my favorite finds.
Why do I care to take the time to salvage a blazer? Well, my love for blazers has been an ongoing relationship for several years. In fact, it is such a passionate love that I remember when our love began to bloom. Do you remember the show Gilmore Girls? Well, I do because I would watch every show just to see what polished blazers Rori Gilmore was going to match with her low cut jeans or collegiate style skirts. That’s when I realized I was missing essential pieces in my wardrobe. Then, just as our love started wavering I ran into Serene Van der Woodsen’s perfectly fitted blazers on Gossip Girl. Who doesn’t love those blazers? And the love affair continues.
