Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Comfort Zone Quotes

The other day I realized that I have lived in my comfort zone my entire life. There have been times where I have strayed a little and tried new things but for the most part I keep coming back to what is comfortable for me. This affects all areas of my life but today I am specifically speaking about my fashion sense.

Growing up I never really felt good enough, cute, or like any of my peers. I usually reached for jeans, a sweatshirt and comfortable sneakers. Actually at times the idea of stepping out and being noticed freaked me out so I literally did what ever I could to just blend in.

I would say I didn’t follow the crowd or that I was unique but honestly that was a lie. I lacked the ability to truly dress the way I wanted because I wanted so desperately to fit in. Now that I’m 23 years old I kind of want to step out of my comfort zone and try styles that I would only pine over from behind a computer screen.

Celebrities like Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus all share a style that I find interesting and daring! More often than not the style post that I share regularly on Fridays are inspired by one of the above mentioned people. I have an eclectic style and lately I just want to show that side of me more. Instead of just posting my favorite fashion looks I want to actually wear them in real life.

Beyonce Knowles

While mulling this over I made a style inspiration board and I would like to share it with you all! The pieces are all over the place and may take some of you back a bit but remember I did say that I am very eclectic.

Look 1:

Casual and Free

Look 2:

Cowgirl Cutie

Both of these looks are scary for me because I usually go for a more laid back look but I am going to try to push myself out of my fashion comfort zone. What do you think of the two outfits I created? Is it too much for a shy fashion virgin? Sound off in the comments below!

Single Ladies Put Your Hands Up

Beyonce at Superbowl with Chevron Gold Minx applied by Lisa Logan

On Sunday all eyes were on Beyoncé and her hot Super bowl performance. But while many were being hypnotized by her fierce movements and soulful voice. I couldn’t help noticing her killer manicure. The dancing diva was rocking a special Minx nail manicure by New York Celebrity Nail Stylist Lisa Logan. Lisa Logan was hand picked to create the nail styles for Beyoncé and her backup dancers in preparation for the amazing holographic effects show that blew all of our minds Sunday.

Lisa shares how she created Beyoncé's fierce nails:

“As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I began working on creating super long nail tips covered with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevron Minx that would be worn by the backup dancers,” explains Lisa.  “The process was very time consuming because the nails were going to be used in the holographic segment where it looks like Beyoncé has multiple arms, so all the dancers had to be wearing the same design.  And, because the nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip.”

She continues:

“After applying Minx to the tips around 4:00 am, I had to rush back to the hotel 3 hours later to finish applying Minx to the ten backup dancers who were arriving to begin filming the holographic segment. By noon, Beyoncé had also arrived and I applied the same Matte Gold Chevron Minx to her nails as well. Everyone nails had to match in order for the hologram to make it appear that Beyoncé had multiple arms. “(See Video clip below)

There is no denying that Beyonce’s performance was spectacular and it is really cool for me to get a behind the scenes glimpse into her preparation. Those of you who follow Baddiebey on Instagram might already know that she is a huge fan of Minx nails. Last month she posted a custom Minx design inspired by New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat on Instagram ( see photo below). Beyonce often wears custom Minx colors and designs, with the Minx metallics proving to be a particular favorite due to the high impact it delivers on stage and on the red carpet. (I mean, if you were owning stages and stomping your feet to the booming sound of drums you would want to make sure your manicure would last also.)

Another huge plus of Minx nails, they are the only heat-activated solid nail coating. Lisa explains that the nail coating literally conforms to the actual shape of the nail, and can last up to two weeks on the fingers and six weeks on the toes. In fact the nails Beyoncé rocked at the Superbowl were the same set that had been applied a full week prior, and were the same minx she wore for her January 31st press conference in which she sang a superb live rendition of the national anthem and put all the lip synching drama to rest. (Just because I’m a fan, check out that amazing video here)

Fans who would love to experience Minx can purchase their own DIY Minx nails by logging on to the www.MinxTastingRoom.com, or can have a set professionally applied at a Minx-certified salon found through the www.MinxNails.com salon finder.

The solid nail coating can be worn on either natural nails or tips and are constantly seen on celebrities including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.
