If I Could Move…

Have you ever felt stressed and pushed in a corner? Do you feel like your dreams passed you by? For the past year I have been bitten by this bug and it is driving me mad. My mom once asked me where would you move if you had the chance. At the time I didn’t really have an answer but after thinking about it I think that I would consider moving to Kansas.

Yes, Kansas! I know right, why wouldn’t I say something like California, New York, Atlanta or Hawaii. The truth is I want to pursue my dreams of becoming a makeup artist. I know this will be difficult due to my health condition but my family seems to believe that anything is positive and if they say so , well why couldn’t I.

I spent the evening searching beauty schools in overland park and I stumbled upon so many that I really had a hard time making a decision. But of course this isn’t something I have to decide over night. Honestly I probably won’t move until two years from now and I’m also not sure if my love of photography is stronger than my like for makeup. But, I thought it would be fun to imagine myself somewhere else.

10 Most Effective Tips for Fair Skin

Also, remove makeup thoroughly before hitting the sack to prevent skin ageing, breakouts, blotchy and unhealthy skin that causes you to look few tones darker than your normal complexion.



4. Sour Curd/Yogurt as a Remedy for Natural Skin Lightening:







Opt for natural bleach at home instead of one loaded with chemicals. Try plain unflavored yogurt for skin lightening and also to get rid of tanned skin. Apply to cleansed face, neck and other areas; wash off after 20 minutes and welcome glowing skin!



5. Exfoliate to get rid of patchy/uneven skin tone/tanned skin:



Uneven or patchy skin tone is one of the reasons behind our skin looking dark and dull. Tanned skin, blackheads and dead skin is often the cause of this. The solution is exfoliation.







Prepare a homemade face mask by mixing 1 tsp each of tomato juice, yogurt and oatmeal and apply twice every week for effective skin lightening.



6. Lemon for Fair skin:







The humble lemon is present in most kitchens and it actually works wonders for skin lightening and helping us achieve an even and fair skin tone through its bleaching action.



Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice to your skin daily and wash off after 20 minutes for natural fairness.



7. Raw Potato for Skin Lightening:







Get rid of pigmentation and blemishes which are major deterrents to fair skin with the help of the humble potato.



Rub freshly cut slices of potato on cleansed skin daily; let your skin soak up the juice and rinse after 10-15 minutes.



8. Water helps to clear the complexion:



Water itself is a great natural hydrant and remover of toxins; so drink plenty of it (ideally 10-12 glasses) throughout the day to detoxify and get naturally glowing skin. Alternatively, green tea or a homemade fruit juice instead of tea, coffee or aerated drinks would be a great way to get fair and healthy skin.



9. Diet tips for Fair Skin:



Eat at least one fruit daily, preferably those with high-water content or citrus fruits that are loaded with the antioxidant Vitamin C which helps in achieving naturally glowing and fair skin. Adding green, leafy veggies, foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as walnuts, almonds, Salmon and tuna fish to your diet can bring about a noticeable improvement in skin texture.



10. Sleep well!



Did you know that erratic sleeping routines including waking up late nights can give us tired, dull and lackluster skin? So, get to bed early and at the same time daily and get your beauty sleep for a minimum of 7-8 hours for beautiful glowing skin.

I had the privilege of having a custom blend chat with Px Beauty Genius Nikki( no longer works with Prescriptives). Nikki was so kind and after speaking with her for thirty minutes I felt confident that I would finally find the foundation match I’ve always searched for. 







Nikki and I discussed my previous foundations and what I loved and didn’t love about each one. I told her about my love for my Mac NC45 foundation but how I hated the weird white cast the foundation left on my face when taking photographs. Don’t allow the difference in lighting to fool you. My blemishes are covered and I don’t appear to have excess makeup on my face which I hate. Here is another comparison of the Cover girl foundation and the Prescriptives Custom Blend Foundation.







Above I am wearing my Covergirl Queen Collection foundation on the left and Prescriptives Custom Blend foundation on the right. I actually like them both but felt that the Prescriptives Custom Blend foundation covered more of my acne scarring and left my skin feeling moisturized. The sun cast a bit of an orange tint to my skin so check out the photographs taken in doors below.







On the left I am wearing my Mac foundation. The lighting really broadcast my oily skin. I also notice that weird white cast around my chin area. With the Prescriptive foundation on the right, my skin is even , not oily, and looks natural. I think it’s a no brainer which foundation I love more.

Single Ladies Put Your Hands Up

On Sunday all eyes were on Beyoncé and her hot Super bowl performance. But while many were being hypnotized by her fierce movements and soulful voice. I couldn’t help noticing her killer manicure. The dancing diva was rocking a special Minx nail manicure by New York Celebrity Nail Stylist Lisa Logan. Lisa Logan was hand picked to create the nail styles for Beyoncé and her backup dancers in preparation for the amazing holographic effects show that blew all of our minds Sunday.









Lisa shares how she created Beyoncé's fierce nails:

“As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I began working on creating super long nail tips covered with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevron Minx that would be worn by the backup dancers,” explains Lisa.  “The process was very time consuming because the nails were going to be used in the holographic segment where it looks like Beyoncé has multiple arms, so all the dancers had to be wearing the same design.  And, because the nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip.”

She continues:

“After applying Minx to the tips around 4:00 am, I had to rush back to the hotel 3 hours later to finish applying Minx to the ten backup dancers who were arriving to begin filming the holographic segment. By noon, Beyoncé had also arrived and I applied the same Matte Gold Chevron Minx to her nails as well. Everyone nails had to match in order for the hologram to make it appear that Beyoncé had multiple arms. “(See Video clip below)

There is no denying that Beyonce’s performance was spectacular and it is really cool for me to get a behind the scenes glimpse into her preparation. Those of you who follow Baddiebey on Instagram might already know that she is a huge fan of Minx nails. Last month she posted a custom Minx design inspired by New York artist Jean-Michel Basquiat on Instagram ( see photo below). Goodies and Vanilla Donuts

Two weeks ago I received a review package in the mail from Perfume Land in Orlando Florida filled with two new exciting products. The Dermashine Peach and Pomegranate body cream and the Vanilla Donut Brightening cream. I’m a sucker for body care products so lets just say that my excitement level was about a level 10 or higher. Usually I steer clear of anything scented but both of these products were lightly scented and I still to this day can’t stop raving about them.



Dermashine body cream ($29) contains concentrated drops of vitamins A, C, and E for enhanced skin penetration. Bursting with moisturizing beads, this body lotion leaves you feeling moisturized and ridiculously soft. I had the opportunity to sample both the Peach and Pomegranate body cream and the Green Tea and Aloe Vera body cream and both left me feeling soft and smooth. The Peach and Pomegranate body cream reminds me of a sweet pastry from a local bakery I frequented back in my high school days. The smell is sweet without being overwhelming which was a huge plus for me. The Green Tea and Aloe Vera body cream had a a very pleasant scent to it. Out of the two I think I would honestly have to say that the Green Tea body cream was by far my favorite.

The only negative I could say about this product is that at times I found the moisturizing beads to be a bit difficult to rub into my skin. I’m not sure if I just lacked the physical strength or patience to rub every single bead in, but I would often leave out of the bathroom with little red beads on my chest and arms. Just to test this out I did ask both of my sisters to try the lotion and they both reported having a difficult time rubbing in all of the beads. Second would be the price. $29 for a 8oz jar of body cream may seem excessive for some but I have been informed that the cost for Dermashine per item is subject to change soon. But, the good news if you would like to try before you buy free samples are available upon request. This cream smells like vanilla Colgate toothpaste which oddly enough I enjoyed. I applied the brightening cream to my face using a circular motion everyday for the past two weeks and I have experienced no adverse reactions to my skin. No breakouts, no burning, itching, oozing, nothing. My skin actually seems more smooth now and a little brighter. I’m sure it will take more than two weeks for me to see any results but I can say that so far I am more than pleased.



Here is my before and after photograph. Before using the Vanilla Donut brightening cream my skin was a bit dull and dare I say it ashy in appearance. After using the Vanilla Donut brightening cream my skin appears brighter and more youthful. As I said before it may be to early to tell but in another month I will update this post with another before and after photograph.

When I first opened the box the smell of the seaweed kind of knock me back for a second. I guess I was not use to such a strong smell but thankfully that wore off after running water over the soap bar. The soap lathered well and left my skin feeling clean but not dry. Reviva Labs says that their Seaweed grain scrub action helps to remove hidden impurities and has been a favorite in baths and showers for years. This soap has also been used as part of a slimming anti-cellulite routine in Spain. When I read this I jokingly said that I should purchase this soap by the truckloads. Could you imagine soaking in a bath for 10 hours and stepping out a size 7! Well obviously that would not happen in real life but admit it, that would be pretty cool.

Perfect Manicure Kit- A-Viva Beauty

Yucky nails…bleh who needs em right! Now I will be the first to say that I don’t care for my nails the way I should. The idea of waking up every morning to paint my nails just really drives me nuts. So when A-Viva Beauty messaged me about reviewing their nail buffer I was a little hesitant. My mind immediately went ugh I have to do my nails. But, I was so wrong. The A-Viva Beauty buffing block was created to give your nails a dazzling shine without using nail polish! My sister, who is even more low maintenance than I am, kindly offered to volunteer her nails for this review.

As you can see my sisters nails on the left have been buffed and shined using the A-Viva Beauty nail buffer and cuticle oil. The nails on the right are all natural, split cuticles and all.

Step One: She started off by filing her nails into the desired shape. As seen below:



Next using the A-Viva Beauty nail buffer, Lisa buffed and shaped her nail bed until she achieved a nice polished look. Shown in the photograph below:



Last but not least, Lisa used the A-Viva Beauty cuticle oil to moisturized her dry and damaged cuticles. She also made sure to carry the oil all over her nails.



It took us a little while to figure out how to use this nifty pen but after a few pumps the oil began to flow easily through the tube. This was our favorite item in the package.

ITAY Mineral Cosmetics is 100% natural and free of chemical, dyes, and talc so it is safe for even the most sensitive skin type. This foundation is water resistant so it stays put all day even if you sweat like crazy because you live in hot Florida. With just a small amount of foundation the site claims you are able to achieve a nice flawless finish. After reading all of these benefits I couldn’t wait to get my hand on this foundation.

I was sent the colors MF-6 Latte Macchiato and MF-8 Marrocchino to sample.

The MF-6 ended up being one shade to light and the MF-8 was two shades to dark so I had to mix the two colors together to get the perfect shade for my skin tone.

Final Verdict:

I will be honest and say that prior to trying this foundation I was not a huge fan of mineral makeup. The products I used in the past always left my skin feeling smothered and dry. But ITAY has completely changed my opinion of mineral makeup. I only use enough to load my brush one time and it covers my entire face. As you can see in the picture above I didn’t achieve a flawless look but I didn’t really want one. I am sure if you applied two or three coats of this foundation that you would achieve a flawless full coverage look but I just didn’t really want that.

Another plus in my book is that even in the mid-day heat my makeup never melted, which is  amazing considering the fact that I live in Florida. I also loved the fact that I couldn’t feel the foundation on my face, I actually forgot I had even applied makeup until I went to wash my face at the end of the day. The only negative thing I could say about this foundation is that I feel its on the expensive side. But with all the benefits it offers I can see why it cost almost $40 to purchase. If you are in the market for a new mineral foundation I would encourage you to give ITAY Mineral Cosmetics a try!
